Competent Driving BC - Policies
General Information:
CDBC is a multifaceted operation, offering Class 4 Driver Training, Class 5 Driver Retraining, individual and corporate Driver Evaluation & Assessment Services, Driver Services, and Passenger Transportation Services. CDBC complies with all municipal, provincial, and federal regulations applicable under licensing conditions in effect.
Driver Training:
Students should be aware of the conditions existent under the Motor Vehicle Act Regulations Division 27 as these are specific not only to CDBC, but in fact all Driver Training Schools in this province.
CDBC specializes in Class 4 and Class 5 Driver Training & Retraining, and although licensed for Class 7 training, this is not offered by the company with the sole exception of providing gearshift training to Class 7 ‘N’ drivers, using their own vehicle.
All Driver Training is provided on a one-to-one basis, unless otherwise agreed to with the client. Rates (see below) are for actual training time provided.
Individuals seeking a vehicle solely for Class 4 Road Test purposes are encouraged to look elsewhere; while CDBC could provide this, it is not a rental company: it is a Driver Training Company that also provides Driver Evaluation & Passenger Transportation Services.
Transportation:
CDBC operates within a 160km radius of the North Shore, thus encompassing an area that extends beyond Whistler to the north, Hope to the east, the US border to the south, and the southern/western area of Vancouver Island beyond Victoria, Port Alberni, and Courtenay.
Driver Evaluation & Assessment:
CDBC provides professional evaluation services to both individuals and companies. A written summation of driver ability and conduct will be provided, and the cost for this will be included in any quote for services to be provided.
Driver Services:
CDBC provides both Vehicle Delivery and Professional Driver services within BC, for all vehicle classifications.
Licensing:
CDBC is properly licensed for all Driver Training, Driver Evaluation/Assessment, and Driving Services within the province of BC. See above for limitations applicable to Transportation Services. Driving Services are limited to Class 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 applications.
Note:
Clients engaging in Driver Training, Retraining or Evaluations are required to possess and provide the necessary valid Driver License for the purpose. Those providing the vehicle for these services are required to possess and provide the necessary insurance coverage also.
Appointments:
CDBC operates on a mutually agreed appointment basis. Clients are expected to provide a minimum of 48 hours’ notice in case of cancellations, postponements, rearrangements, etc. Any change involving an ICBC Road Test appointment with our vehicle should be made at least 72 hours in advance, in order to allow sufficient time for the company to effect changes without incurring penalties from ICBC.
If these conditions are not met, CDBC may then reschedule (at the company’s discretion, given the circumstances) without penalty. However, CDBC reserve the right to determine whether a refund, fee adjustment, cancellation fee, forfeit of prepaid fee, etc may be appropriate to the situation.

Services are provided on an hourly basis. Class 4 training is g.s.t. exempt. Group rates and travel time fees may be negotiable.
